Explorer and chronicler of the Forsaken Lands, the Protagonist awoke at the start of the 18th cycle alongside many others at the Church of Her. He believes it to be his destiny to uncover the mysteries of the Appendices of the 17 while journeying with the Lost Pilgrim in the unraveling events of this significant cycle. His name is currently unknown.

¶ A Knight is Born: Book One
A researcher with an adventurous spirit, the Protagonist chronicled the Battle of Her Church from atop a cliff before journeying down into the Burrow. Eventually he made his way into the Basiliteca, the Library of the Abyss, where he encountered Worm of the Nameless. After a tense exchange, the Protagonist was sentenced to years of servitude for his trespass, only for his escort to collude with him in a grand escape. The two then parted ways in amity, with the Protagonist returning to the Stalwart to learn more of the Appendices of the 17.
