Julian cackles as he buries his sword in the beast, watching it slump before him!
A man in a high-collared garb and red metal helmet announces his presence to the group:
“Behold, I am Julian Tryhard, of House Tryhard!”
He pauses for a beat as if expecting fanfare.
“Perhaps you recognize me as the ranked eleventh best swordsman on this side of the kingdom's greater tri-province area? No?”
He brings his hand up to rub his chin.
“Err... actually I am not sure exactly what side of the kingdom we are on right now. Or maybe even where that kingdom is... Ugh, you see my mind feels a bit scrambled after all the commotion I have witnessed in the recent past. It has been a while... I suppose I've been away from my home for so long now it's quite likely I am well within the top ten swordsmen at this point!"
He flashes a grin of confidence.
“Oh it does seem a lot has transpired lately... it's a long story but in essence the powers that be have designated me, Julian Tryhard, standing before you today, as the Chosen Soul. Surely I am destined to soon have a kingdom of my own!”
He pauses for a breath while his eyes wander and he shakes his head slightly as if considering his thoughts.
“The point is you are all very fortunate to be joining me here today. And while I cannot predict the future, given the obvious nature of my importance to some prophecy, I am quite comfortable in allowing the bravest of you lot to escort me personally into the dark depths of this surely disgusting cave. The taint of which I can smell from here...”
You can see his brow wrinkle slightly from under his helm.
“Yes, yes, this is certainly not a matter of personal enrichment that I embark on this mission, no, it is to be but my first step in proving myself a newfound hero - and may, or may not, involve some debt I have to settle.”
He moves his arm to unsheathe a rapier that he gently waves around.
“You've seen how the pointy end of this kind of thing works, yes? I'll have you know I have slain no less than three fully grown men, and wounded at least several others! Whatever we may find inside this cave best pray they can grasp logic and reason as proficiently as I, lest blood be spilled on my way to fulfilling my no doubt sacred purpose."
He stomps his foot and bows slightly.
“I am ready when you are, and assure you I will be but one step behind you at all times. Ready to leap into action…”
